A small, independent home-based bakery, bringing you traditional Bohemian spiced honey cookies (pernik).

Traditional Bohemian "perník" is a soft, fragrant cookie made with honey and a unique blend of spices. Unlike classic gingerbread, these cookies are less gingery, more delicately spiced, and have a tender texture. They are beloved treat in Czech homes, especially during festive times.Did you know that the earliest version of "gingerbread", a kind of honey-bread, dates back to ancient Egypt? Known then as a kind of honey-bread, it wasn’t just a sweet treat — it was actually considered medicinal. The Egyptians blended honey — cherished for its soothing, healing nature — with fragrant spices that carried their own antiseptic benefits. The result was a spiced loaf believed to support health and healing. My cookies are not too different from that ancient recipe.I make every batch of cookies unique, customizing each cookie to match the occasion and bring a personal touch to every bite.

Hi, I am

Katerina Beardmore

I’m the one who bakes every piece of "pernik" here at Honeyke. I don’t have professional training in pastry making, but I do have something just as important — a deep connection to Bohemian traditions and the recipes I grew up with. Pernik has always been a part of my life: a symbol of care, creativity, and celebration.
What started as a personal passion has grown into a small bakery where I create each batch from scratch, using only the best ingredients and decorating every piece by hand. I feel honoured to share a little piece of my culture and craft with you through every cookie.
